Moon Goddess I

Original mixed media with watercolour and ink on watercolour paper. A4 Inspired by Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the moon and nature. Her story is one of eternal love.

Zues's daughter, Artemis, is the Goddess of the moon, hunting and the forest. Every night she guided the moon across the sky, in a cart pulled by flying horses.

Gazing down she spotted Orion on his deserted island, and she fell in love with him. Even though the gods were forbidden to mingle with the mortals, she could not resist flying down to hunt with him. After Zues had Orion killed by a giant scorpion, Artemis placed him in the sky to live on forever as a constellation.

"And if you are to love,

love as the moon loves;

it does not steal the night -

it only unveils

the beauty of the dark."

- Isra Al-Thibeh
