Reflect II
100cm x 40cm
Fluid acrylic on stretched canvas

Over the course of a few months I spent time working on combinations of different paints in order to achieve the dendritic effect at the edges of the trees in this piece. As the black is added, it spreads by itself from it’s starting point in the direction that minimises energy. It's a cool interplay between viscosity, density and evaporation. Follow this link to see my video showing how I create these dentrites :https://fb.watch/jzJBdUnbdO/

This branching effect occurs over and over again in nature on all scales, from the tiniest frost patterns of a snowflake to the branching of giant rivers down a mountain. These dendritic or tree-like shapes also link us to the rest of the natural world from our vein patterns to the alveoli in our lungs.

In my Reflections series I set outside to capture a sense of balance and tranquility, hoping to provide That all important moment of calm in your home.
